UI’s non-academic staff suspend strike

After two weeks of disrupting academic and administrative activities in the University of Ibadan, following agitation over illegal deductions from their salaries, the non-academic staff of the university yesterday suspended their strike.

The cheering news was disclosed by the Director of Public Communication, University of Ibadan, Mr. Olatunji Oladejo, although it could not be confirmed from the Chairman of the Senior Staff Association of Nigerian Universities, Wale Akinremi, as calls made to his phone were not answered.

Oladejo said that the non-academic staff unions of the university agreed to suspend their strike after a series of meetings with the school management. He said: “After a series of meetings with the leaders of the unions by the representatives of the university’s authority, the unions agreed to suspend the strike and resume work on Tuesday” (today).
