The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) is to begin nationwide Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) exercise from April 27.
The date was arrive at after a meeting between the commission and Resident Electoral Commissioners (RECs) and Administrative Secretaries in Abuja on Wednesday.
INEC had before now, held consultations with political parties, civil society organisations and the media, to finalise its preparations for the commencement of the exercise.
The commission said in a statement after the meeting with RECs that the planned voter registration exercise will take place only on weekdays excluding public holidays.
The statement, which was signed by Mrs. Amina Zakari, a National Commissioner in the Commission, added that the exercise is to enable Nigerians who have turned 18 years of age since the last registration as well as those who were unable to register at that time, to register.
