The Movement for the Actualization of Sovereign State of Biafra (MASSOB), Delta South Zone has restated its determination for the creation of the Republic of Biafra. It also flayed the remarks made against the actualization of the move by the Chief of Army Staff Lt. Gen. Tukur Buratai, insisting that their demand has come to stay.
Gen. Buratai had lambasted the agitators of the actualization of MASSOB, describing it as a waste of time and will subsequently not hold.
Reacting to the statement, a member of the Elder-In-Council of the body, Mr. Joseph Odikpo, said that the move for the actualization of Republic of Biafra has come to stay. He said: “The Army boss should be told that the struggle has indeed gained popular response both in Africa and outside the continent; in fact, nobody can stop it”.
“We want to say that the Delta South Zone of MASSOB and the Biafran Independence Movement are solidly behind the national body, under the leadership of Dr. Ralph Uwazuruike and the Director of Religious Affairs, Pastor Francis Chigbo”, said Odikpo.
While advising the Army Chief to stop making inflammatory statements that could cause another round of crisis, the MASSOB leader urged all members of the body not to be discouraged.
He noted that a significant change is already taking place in all Igbo land and other areas, and cited the example of some advanced countries which started like Biafra and have now moved to the ladder.
“We will continue to press for the actualization of the Republic of Biafra, without violence, explaining that all peaceful avenue will be sought to ensure our quest for a republic is realizable,” added Odikpo
