Kayode Olarenwaju, one of Nigeria’s top goal scorers in the European leagues this season having netted 17 goals, has revealed his dream of recording more caps playing for the Super Eagles of Nigeria after having a taste of the action in the international friendly game against Senegal in London last month.
Kayode, 23, made his debut for Nigeria in the 1-1 draw with Senegal, and he is optimistic that the Eagles’ coach, Gernot Rohr was impressed with his gamechanging appearance as a second-half substitute.
He said: “It was nice to finally get a chance to valuable international appearances for Nigeria under coach Rohr.
It was a bit frustrating when I was constantly overlooked at some point because I was scoring in the Europa League and Austrian League – but this is a big chance for me to compete.
“Hopefully it is the first of many caps for my country and I look forward to playing regularly in the future.”
