Court orders forensic audit of Jaiz Bank statement

The Chief Judge of the Federal Capital Territory, Justice Ishaq Bello, has ordered a forensic examination of a Jaiz Bank statement tendered before the court. The order was made sequel to an oral application made by Mr Sebastine T. Hon (SAN) in a garnishee suit- No.FCT/HC/ FJ/27/2017 filed against the bank and 11 others.

In the suit, Hon alleged that the statement of the bank tendered in court was manipulated as the account did not reflect its true status. “The garnishee (Jaiz Bank) is hereby ordered to make available through any of their principal officers original or certified copy of the bank statements covering the amount available with the garnishees connecting Zamfara State Government,” the order read. The presiding judge further ordered that: “Such officer shall appear for tendering of the said exhibit or where there is no contention from the bank, by counsel to the 11th garnishee (Jaiz Bank).”
